Disease Management: Webcast: Management of Frogeye Leaf Spot

Fungicides are an important weapon against plant disease and, now more than ever, it’s important for agricultural practitioners to manage this resistance.

undefinedThrough a United Soybean Board grant-funded research project led by Carl Bradley, Associate Professor of Plant Pathology and Extension Specialist at the University of Illinois, the Plant Management Network has published a new ‘Focus on Soybean’ webcast to help facilitate fungicide resistance education for growers and consultants.

This webcast, titled “Management of Frogeye Leaf Spot and Fungicide Resistance” by Heather Kelly, Assistant Professor of Plant Pathology at the University of Tennessee, is the second in a series of three talks on fungicide resistance.

This talk was developed to help consultants, growers, and other practitioners better understand management strategies for frogeye leaf spot in light of the QoI fungicide resistance that has developed in the pathogen population.

In the webcast, Dr. Kelly discusses:

  • The current distribution of QoI fungicide resistant Cercospora sojina, the fungal agent of frogeye leaf spot disease in soybean
  • Management strategies for frogeye leaf spot and fungicide resistance in soybean
  • Results from trials conducted on QoI fungicide resistant isolates in the lab and field
