Weed Management: Mapping Herbicide Resistance with Weed Map Tool Kit

Do you know the weeds affecting soybean production in your county?

Weed control needs to be a top priority throughout the growing season to keep your soybeans in prime condition. But different weeds call for different treatments. How do you know which weeds to be looking out for, or how to manage each kind?

undefinedISA’s Weed Map Tool Kit maps the occurrence of the most common herbicide-resistant weeds in Illinois, helping farmers identify the major weeds to be aware of in their area. The weed data was updated this summer, providing farmers with the most recent information on weed control in their local area.

Just select your county from the dropdown menu or hover over an area on the Illinois state map. A pop-up window appears showing the prevalence of Common Waterhemp, Horseweed (Mare’s Tail) and Palmer amaranth in your selected area.

The ISA website has other helpful resources to identify weeds and offer guidance on weed management. Look through the photo galleries to see weeds at different growth stages, and see a chronology of Illinois herbicide resistances here. You can also find resistance information on the United Soybean Board Take Action  site.

Illinois Soybean Association
The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) checkoff and membership programs represent more than 43,000 soybean farmers in Illinois. The checkoff funds market development and utilization efforts while the membership program supports the government relations interests of Illinois soybean farmers at the local, state, and national level through the Illinois Soybean Growers (ISG). ISA upholds the interests of Illinois soybean producers through promotion, advocacy, and education with the vision of becoming a market leader in sustainable soybean production and profitability.
