Agronomics: Video: Taking the ISA Yield Challenge: Lynn Rohrscheib, Vermilion Co. Farmer

Lynn Rohrscheib, Vermilion County farmer and ISA director, isn’t going to miss another 100-bushel opportunity.

During harvest last season, one of her plots harvested above the 100-bushel mark; however, she wasn’t registered for ISA’s Yield Challenge and so the Challenge’s $5,000 cash prize went unclaimed. Rohrscheib signed up for the Challenge this year and is hoping that good growing conditions and timely fertility applications have helped the same variety hit the 100-bushel milestone again.

ISA’s Yield Challenge encourages farmers and agronomists to use innovative management practices and technologies to improve yield. A segment of the Challenge includes a $5,000 award to the grower who exceeds the most bushels above 100 bushels per acre.

In this short video, Rohrscheib describes the best management practices she and her father use in their soybean production including the importance of a good seed bed, fertility applications and steady monitoring of weed pressures.
