Agronomics: Video: Soybean Production with Mike Marron, Fifth-Generation Farmer

Farming is a family affair for Mike Marron, ISA Vice Chairman from Fithian, Ill. His ancestors began farming in Vermilion County in 1867; today, Mike and his father farm a soybean-corn rotation on the same land.
As a fifth-generation farmer Marron relies on the latest technologies, including modern varieties and seed treatments, to maximize crop potential. But his biggest piece of growing advice is timeless: plant early. “The longer you can extend the soybean growing season to get more vegetative growth on the plant, it seems to really boost yield,” Marron says.
