Agronomics: Video: Soybean Production with Doug Schroeder, Champaign County Farmer

Growing up on a livestock and crop farm in Champaign County, farming is in Doug Schroeder’s blood. In the mid 1970s the family’s farm transitioned to a corn and soybean operation, which Schroeder manages today with a 50-50 rotation.

To maintain his 64 bushels-per-acre soybean yield average, Schroeder relies on best management practices that include:

  • Tiling systems for proper drainage
  • Integrated pest and disease management
  • Planting the newest varieties with reliable seed treatments as early as possible

Watch this short video to learn more about Schroeder’s management practices. You can also join us in the Forum: What is one of your soybean “best management practices”?
